I'm really tired so this will be short. I got my braces on today. Here's a shot taken this morning and another taken afterwards. It doesn't hurt too much, but feels very uncomfortable and strange.

Wow! My mom got braces just a year ago. My 9 year-old son has them too. I give him tylenol when he goes in for an adjustment, it makes a difference. He always picks out red and black rubber bands.

Thank you all for the words of support. Today has been pretty hard to get through. It feels like having a mouthful of nails. My back teeth no longer meet so I can't chew. My jaw aches. Earlier today I felt like I could rip my teeth out with my bare hands. But everyone assures me I'll adapt within a few days.
The good news is, I just discovered the wonder of dental wax. Now I'm wondering if sleeping with it in will make me choke.
Birdie, I have maroon bands in honor of UM Homecoming (our colors are maroon and silver). I will try to post a closeup soon.
