Do you feel safer yet?
Household survey estimates 100,000 Iraqi deaths (AP)

Many of them women and children. Think about it. Imagine, for a second -- your wife, your child, your mother. All of these people -- loved by someone. A different language, a different skin color, perhaps, but once just as human and alive and feeling as you and me. No more.

Also, 1,106 U.S. soldiers dead. American men and women who could be home with their families, going to school, working, loving. No more.

No more.

I'm not concerned with the 100,000 Iraqi deaths AT ALL.
Being a former military person - I'd have been HONORED to have been given a chance to serve over in Iraq and help liberate that country from more torture and insanity in the hands of a mad man.
If they'd have wanted to to be going to school and working - they probably shouldn't have gone into the military.
My hats are off to them over there serving bravely, so far away from home, under such conditions.
The 1,106 gave their lives willingly and for freedom - and I am grateful.
Hope you're having a great weekend Patia!

Monkey, thanks for taking the time to comment.

I just don't understand how one human being could fail to be concerned with the deaths of 100,000 other human beings. Particularly when those deaths were bought and paid for with your tax dollars. And approximately half of them were women and children.

As for freedom -- whose? Iraqi citizens have been dying at a far higher rate under U.S. occupation than under Saddam's rule. Not that I'm not glad he's gone.

The soldiers -- yes, many have given their lives willingly, but I rather suspect there are at least a few who question what the heck they're doing over there in that quagmire.

And now we've made such a mess, how in the world can we get out gracefully?

Updated total: 1,115 American soldiers dead.

Not concerned about the 100K Iraqi deaths - no ma'am. When these guys are laying bombs out to kill American troops, firing at our troops, firing from buildings as our troops go by - goodbye to all of them - they're very lucky there's not been a LOT more deaths over there.
As for our tax dollars - good - that's what I want my tax dollars spent for - to waste away troublesome Iraqis - and with any hope Patia we'll be getting into Iran next and after Iran hopefully we'll move into Saudi Arabia and clean that up also.
Freedom - the Iraqis are now free from Saddam - I'm sure they don't appreciate it - most of them anyway - and their country will continue to be a big mess - but at least we didn't stand by and we took out Saddam.
Soldiers - sure there's a few that question what they're doing over there - that happens. I don't doubt it - but most of our troops are proud of the work they're doing over there and most support our President.
And now we've made such a mess, how in the world can we get out gracefully?
It won't be easy - we knew that. I personally am in no hurry for us to leave - it's good to have a foothold over in that chaotic part of the world.
Happy Halloween!
