Today was the first midterm exam of my three-week Wintersession class. These classes are really intense, but it's fun, too, to be so immersed in a fascinating topic.
Luna peed on my bed for the second time yesterday. I think it's a litterbox issue -- either I'm not keeping it clean enough or I'm forgetting to keep the door propped open. (Tango can pull it open but Luna can't.) I will try to be more conscientious, but I'm really worried. I love this little girl but I can't cope with her peeing on my bed.
I'm investigating Direcway satellite and Cellular One Internet access. At this point, nothing seems like the perfect solution. Attention business investors and politicians: Rural Montanans need fast, reasonably priced Internet access!
My New Year's resolution was to quit drinking so much Diet Coke. So far so good. I'm substituting tea, which is much healthier. (I love the Republic of Tea's Honey Ginseng Green Tea, as well as chai from Tipu's here in Missoula.)
I had the yummiest dinner last night. Fried polenta with a spinach-cream sauce. It was easy, delicious and pretty. The recipe was from the polenta wrapper; if anyone wants it, let me know.
A sad farewell to the Broadway Market in Missoula, whose owners recently decided it was time to retire. This one-of-a-kind Italian deli was the best place in town to get romano cheese, fresh mozzarella, hot salami, proscuttio and a slice of Old World charm and graciousness.
Maybe if I keep thinking of new things to say here, I won't have to go out into the frigid Hellgate winds. Brrrrr, it's cold out there!

While Direcway satellite works very well it is expensive to have. That is what I am using after disgust with my 28.8 line just wouldn't cut it no more but it is pricey. Sorry to tell you that. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. sarpy.sam (at) gmail (dot) com
I read an article last week about the Broadway Market - it made me hungry... and sad!
Patia, I'm missing my cat terribly after finally having him put to sleep on Monday. You were so kind to post a comment there.
Today, we got the picture framed, the one which is posted with my story about him. My wife decided to put the picture in a plastic sleeve with a magnet on the back of it. We see the refrigerator a whole more than we do the mantel, so that's where the picture is. Good thinking on her part!
Sam, thanks for the info. I have been a bit nervous after searching and finding lots of not-nice things people have said about Direcway .... I may well email you to ask a few questions.
KKM (is it all right if I call you that?!), yeah, The Broadway Market was one-of-a-kind. But the folks have a right to enjoy their golden years in peace ....
Todd, it must feel like there is a furry little hole in your life right now. :-(
I hope Luna is OK and gets back to her litterbox soon! Give her a scratch behind the ears from me!
(and Tango, too!)
And STAY WARM!
Hey Patia. Greetings from Virginia. Erik and I have been monitoring the weather back in Missoula and feeling nostalgic. He is moping because it was 70 degrees in VA yesterday and you all got the snow he's been wanting. Oh well, I thought 70 degrees was kind of nice.
Just a thought about Luna--I know that when my cat gets his UTI problems he starts to "go" in inappropriate places. I'm sure it's nothing with Luna (and I certainly don't want to freak you out--I always freek out when my beasties get ill), but it might be worth a trip to the vets just to be sure. . .
Martha
Hey Martha, yeah, it's pretty but I'd love a day of 70-degree weather right about now. Actually, Missoula's been lucky so far, missing most of the sub-zero temps.
I don't think Luna's problem is an infection -- she's had a checkup at the vet's and the vet agreed it was almost certainly a "message" -- but it's definitely a good thing to consider. I've heard another fascinating theory from a woman at my laundromat, which is that for some reason, cats like peeing on down comforters. Something about the bird feathers? I can't find anything about it on the web, though.
Good to hear from you! Stay in touch.
