If you listen to Montana Public Radio (and you should), now is the time to pitch in for your share of the airwaves. It's pledge week at Montana Public Radio, which means you contribute whatever you can ($1? $1,000? It's all good.), and in return you get to choose from one of many interesting premiums. Things like homemade cheesecakes, T-shirts, goat manure and fresh Flathead cherries. One of my favorite premiums ever was a dozen beautiful banty eggs -- all gorgeous shades of blue, green and brown -- for a $10 pledge.
So call 243-6400 or (800) 325-1565 or go to the website and pledge your support for one of the things that makes Montana so special.

I totally agree with you about public radio – I’m a huge fan. "This American Life," "Whad'ya Know?" "Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me," "APHC" – not to mention the great news coverage. I once suggested (3/5/05) people donate to public radio and one commenter wrote "you must be out of your freaking mind, make a donation to PUBLIC-RADIO." It made me have a little more empathy for those people on the radio who have to do the begging.
People are morons. That's all there is to it. Well, some people. I would much rather donate a few bucks a year than spend it listening to inane commercials. I HATE commercials, and blathering disc jockeys, too.
MTPR here is great; it's an NPR and PRI affiliate, plus there are all sorts of locally produced shows playing great music.
