Sowing the zaadz of change
So I resisted the urge to get a MySpace page and instead joined a social networking community called Zaadz, which means "seeds" in Dutch. Like a lot of similar communities, Zaadz allows you to set up your own page, blog, post photos, join interest groups and connect with other people. Unlike other communities, Zaadz has a mission: "Let's change the world."

From their intro:

Imagine social networking with a purpose, a community of seekers and conscious entrepreneurs circulating wisdom and inspiration and wealth and all that good stuff. Fun fun fun.

It's possibly a little New Age-y for me, but I'm attracted to the parts about personal growth, empowerment and being decent to each other. I'm tired of the jerks that inevitably seem to monopolize most Internet conversations. Zaadz has a mild vetting process, in which you write a few words about yourself and why you want to join, then wait for approval. And they say they have a strict policy of booting people who can't play nice. Sounds good to me.

Come play!

That is really cool looking. I got the MySpace. Kinda crazy out here in the cyber world. Not sure the MySpace is doing much, but I do have lots of country singers as friends on it. LOL!

But, does zaadz have the same heroin-like addictive qualities that myspace has? ;)

Courtney: So far, it does not appear to. I'm a little bored, actually ....

Cara: Dang, girl, I just checked out your blog, and you've got some nice eye candy on there! (Where are these cowboys hiding, anyway?!)

I looked at MySpace when updating my list of Bozeman blogs. Lots of pages, but most of the pages seemed to be teenagers and 20-somethings sharing personal details I'd just as soon not know. ;-0
