A Drivel Runs Through It

Sunday, October 29, 2006

Today (A Poem Of Sorts)
I turned back time five times.
The wind shivered against timbers.
A dust devil twisted up the driveway.

Flies languished; raindrops splayed.
The sun slid pale behind munificent clouds.
A thousand leaves skittered gold across asphalt.

Horses whinnied and cats spooked.
Over the city it turned black and purple and glowed.
The moon flirted and hid her face in the sky's skirts.

Fall flew south before I could say goodbye.
I welcomed the change of seasons, and of heart.
More than just winter blew in today.

Thank you both. It was a quickie, but I like how it turned out.
