I recently had a few dozen of my old slides scanned by a company called DigMyPics. They did a good job; I need to send them more.
This is the Hotel Meade in Bannack, Montana's coolest ghost town. When I arrived (this was seven or eight years ago), it was late in the day and there was a magic light coming in from the west -- what is known as the Golden Hour. It lit up everything in an ethereal glow.
This gorgeous old hotel was a photographer's dream. I want to go back.

I love Bannack and what a great place to photograph.
Their annual Ghost Walks are coming up on October 26th and 27th. I am thinking of driving down for that.
That sounds like fun ....
I've done the Ghost Walk twice, the second time being last year. It was pretty crowded (about 150 people showed up). Unfortunately, this took a lot away from the spooky ambience. I was a little disappointed, because I love Bannack, and I remembered my first Ghost Walk (in 2000) was actually kinda scary.
Anyway, I don't want to discourage anyone because it's for a good cause. I would recommend, however, you bring a thermos of hot cocoa (preferably laced with peppermint schnapps) and stay the night at Jackson Hot Springs--so you can soak in the hot water after fighting off the ghosts.
I totally want to go to Jackson Hot Springs.
I think for photography, I'd rather go when there's nothing going on. When I went before, I was almost the only person there. It was perfect.
Just you, Inga and the local cowboys!
Umm. Huh?
Inga is the owner--the German lady with the spiky hair and leather pants. She's almost always behind the bar.
Every time I've gone there's always been a knot of cowboys in the main lodge a having a good time. Man, you must have been about the only person there if you didn't see either.
Oh, you're talking about Jackson Hot Springs?
I meant Bannack. I've never been to JHS.
But now I want to go there even MORE.
And everything becomes clear! When you said "there", I thought you meant Jackson, not Bannack.
