I write to imagine things differently and in imagining things differently perhaps the world will change. I write to honor beauty. I write to correspond with my friends. I write as a daily act of improvisation.
It's okay. One of the "black" votes was mine -- I was testing the poll.
I'm torn, myself. I think photos look best on black, and I think black looks distinctive, but the clean look and ease of working with white appeals to me.
Patia - I voted for black because I'm fond of white text on black backgrounds, but right after I hit the button I thought that maybe since this is such a time of change for you it might be cool to try white!
So I'm changing my vote...love to see what you do with it anyway. : )
These tired old eyes really like the black. It is much easier to read. That said, if you do change to white using a distinctive color and font for the text will help those whose eyes are aging.
We had Georgia over the winter. I loved it (I read the New York Times online, it uses Georgia, and that made me feel like our blog has just as much gravitas...ha ha), but Matt didn't.

Well, my vote didn't help you decide -- my "white" vote tied it up at 3 each!
Hmmm...maybe a 1/2 black and 1/2 white background!

I voted, but do I need to be registered to vote? Are you registered to vote?
Laurie: Thanks for the feedback. You didn't change your vote on the poll, did you? (I don't think it allows voting twice.) So, I'll do the math.
Jen: Aaarghhh! Yes, I'm registered to vote!!! :-)

White is winning!
Now I'm thinking about a white background with black accents. (I'll probably use some pink and blue, too.)
The color scheme may end up looking like my dream kitchen!
One of my favorite design inspirations is Country Home magazine. I just love the print magazine's design.
Thank you, Linda. Readability is important to me. I've already decided I'm going to use Georgia, at least for body text.
One thing I noticed when I had a white background was that black text was a little straining, but a deep teal made it a lot easier to read.
I voted for white, too. White, black, pink and blue sounds pretty.

Oh well.
