The New Site is Up!!!
After weeks of slaving away, my website redesign is finally finished!
Well, not finished exactly, as I still have a few things to add and tweak -- and websites are always a work in progress -- but the bulk of it is done. Hallelujah.
I have never struggled so hard with building a site, but then, this is the most complex site I've ever done, partly because I used almost entirely CSS instead of HTML. If you're a non-techie (that's most of my friends) who's wondering what the big deal is, try this: Right-click on this page, then select "View Page Source." See all that funny-looking code? That's what I've been futzing with for weeks. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.
I want to thank Nick Shontz for his expert help in fixing a few final problems I could not solve on my own and generally cleaning up my code and making the site load faster. Thank you for coming to my rescue, Nick!
The new site has a lot in common with the previous iteration, but aside from improving the look and feel, I needed a better online portfolio. Here are a few highlights of the new design:
Please tell me what you think and definitely let me know if you see any broken links or other problems. Thanks!
Update: Apparently the site is not loading correctly in Internet Explorer. Stay tuned while I get it figured out.

The new site has a lot in common with the previous iteration, but aside from improving the look and feel, I needed a better online portfolio. Here are a few highlights of the new design:
- The Portfolio page highlights my writing, editing, web design and photography. A more detailed list of published writing is on the Writing page. (I'll have some of my clips available for download in PDF format soon.)
- Reader's choice! The background color is now white instead of black, based on the results of a reader poll I conducted. Photos look better on black, but I like the clean look of white, too.
- Rather than trying to migrate all the old blog posts into the new template, I've simply archived them separately on the Archive page.
- There are now numerous ways to find me listed on my Contact page. (Because it's all about me!)
Please tell me what you think and definitely let me know if you see any broken links or other problems. Thanks!

I really like it, Patia! It's comprehensive and very well done, and actually a demonstration portfolio all by itself.

Thanks, everyone.
April: "... nearly cut my throat" is an excellent description of what I've been dealing with for the past month or so. Thank you for the empathy!
The site is not loading properly for people using Internet Explorer. I'll reserve my opinions of IE for now. Suffice it to say, I hope to get it figured out soon. Bear with me. (Or better yet, switch to Firefox. Ha!)

Looks great, Patia. Very light and bright. Both you and Jen have inspired me to consider playing around with my own site. Big love, Kel
