Looking for the Ayn Rand story? It's here and here.

Not blogging much these days, but still posting pics and a few thoughts now and then.

PatiaI have a passion for creative communication — from the written word to the visual image and from print to online.

I am an award-winning writer, respected editor and expert web content manager, as well as a long-time photographer, blogger and social media user. I’m an experienced manager of editors, content producers and bloggers. I have good judgment and instincts in communications, marketing, public relations and social networking.

As news editor and web content manager for University Relations at the University of Montana for 10 years, I was responsible for university home page content, the UM Style Guide and campus email newsletters, among other things. I left in 2008 to pursue a freelance career, but continued to do writing, editing, web design and marketing work for University Relations. I was a writer/editor with the UM Office of Alumni Relations from June 2010 to July 2011 before accepting a new position in Washington state. Unfortunately, that position was not a good fit and I am currently seeking new opportunities.

I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in creative writing with a nonfiction emphasis.

From my last performance review:

You possess an exceptionally well-rounded set of skills that makes you very unique. It’s rare to find someone with your technical knowledge who can also write and edit with your expertise. In addition, you also are very adept at decision-making and problem-solving.

You make valuable contributions to the department and the University on a daily basis with your outstanding writing and editing abilities, unequaled good sense about and understanding of Web content and marketing, and superlative public relations savvy.

You’re consistently highly productive and your work is always of the highest quality. … You consistently perform at an uncommonly high level.

– Director of UM University Relations
