In a New York Minute
Broadcast alum shines in national news anchor spot

I have written news and feature articles, profiles, personal essays, news releases, news briefs, web content, product reviews, advertising copy, signage and other marketing materials. I am also a longtime blogger and user of social media.

My writing has been recognized with a gold award from CASE District VIII and a first place for best in-depth reporting from the Montana Newspaper Association.

Editing

Before leaving the University of Montana in January 2008 to pursue a freelance career, I was managing editor of the University's weekly email newsletter, TGIF, and the UM Style Guide.

I led a major lexicographical update of the UM Style Guide in 2006.

I returned to the university part-time in April 2009 and continue to copy edit numerous UM publications, including the President's Report, the Montanan, Vision, Research View and Main Hall to Main Street.

I have also written and edited hundreds of news releases during my years at UM. I am extremely well-versed in AP Style and familiar with Chicago Style.

Web Content and Design

I'm comfortable using Dreamweaver, Blogger, WordPress and various content management systems (Cascade, nTreePoint, .NET) to build and maintain websites. I'm moderately competent hand-coding CSS and HTML. I am also familiar with web accessibility issues.

As Web Content Manager at UM, I was responsible for all web content on the university home page and secondary pages, including news, events and photographs. I was active on the University Web Committee and had a leadership role in three home page redesign processes.

Graphic Design

I am skilled in Adobe Photoshop and have worked in QuarkXPress and InDesign.

I created these 16x20 collages for the 2009 Montana Governor's Humanities Awards, presented by Humanities Montana. They were displayed at the awards ceremony in the state capitol.

My photographs have been published in many places, including the Montanan magazine, University of Montana President's Report, Griz Greetings postcard gallery and PhotographyReview.com.
